Is our food…. Shrinking?

If you haven’t heard this term yet, it might make your grocery bill start to make more and more sense.

We’re talking about SHRINKFLATION – something Biden himself took to social media during the Superbowl to discuss.

Shrinkflation is what happens when companies shrink the amount of product you’re getting, but charging the same, or even higher prices. Remember ice cream when you were a kid? It used to come in a half gallon container, but it just seems to keep getting smaller. You also might notice that not only are bags and containers smaller, they’re also LESS FULL.

And yes, there is a whole subreddit devoted to this. And a TikTok page.

Even though Biden avoided mentioning any specific brands that currently participate in the trend, Goldfish, Gatorade, Oreos, Breyers were briefly shown in the video, so we know who he was talking about. Which means we really have to ask ourselves… is our food shrinking?
